(Day +7) Had a reaction - New drug Reglan
Can not calm the cramps within. Various meds and combination of meds are being taken. Some work but only temporarily. My counts are low and I am in need of a unit of platelets and one of red blood cells. The transfusion of platelets went well until the bag was depleted. I broke out in hives, nothing major. I have had worse, the nurse was on top of it and administered benadryl and steroids. They put me to sleep and I am just waking, there are still some small potmarks on my face, but for the most part they have have subsided.
I have the laptop playing some Janis Joplin & Eric Clapton. The view I have is incredible, I can see Houston proper.
I received an email from the plumbing contractor that is doing the construction on the Alkek expansion here at MD Anderson. I hope to have a job lined up so that when I am able to carry my tools, I have a place to go. It will be the first time in years that I use them. Prior to this cancer thing I served in a management capacity. Now I just want to work.
Way back when, in another time I lived in a bedroom with purple walls and orange trim. I shared a room with my sister. As long as I can remember I had a healthy appetite. My dad would bring home a gallon of milk and I would drink the whole thing. I still can picture his face and words when he caught me drinking the whole thing. He was kinda mad, told me that it was for the whole family and I was supposed to share with my brother and sister. My line stayed the same for years, "I am a growing boy" and need it for my growth. He would grumble somethng under his breath and you could just make out the end, "I have Jethro Bodine" in my house.
I liked donuts and it was a treat when they would bring home Shipley's. We were rationed. But those were rules and I often broke them. Sometime during the night I got out of bed and ate the remaining...
